dialogue . . .

girl: Is there anything I could have done differently?
guy: No. It's nothing personal. It's just not working.
girl: What do you mean it's nothing personal? It's entirely personal. There are no other persons involved.
guy: I'm not breaking up with you; I'm breaking up with us.

That sounds curiously similar to a conversation I had the other night.

girl (me): What the heck? You just told me yesterday that you thought things were going really well.

guy (bit of a dumbass): I thought that's how I felt at the time. Maybe I will feel that way again tomorrow.

girl (beautiful confident woman - still me): Fine, but I don't think you gave us much of a chance.

guy (NOT gonna get another chance tomorrow): It might work, I'd really like it to work, but I think it would be hard. I'm just watching out for my own interests here.

"I'm breaking up with us." Sounds like a Belle & Sebastian song.

Shannon: What an odd duck.

Alan: If they're reading the blog right now, feel free.

NYM: I think it'd be GOLD - if delivered with the proper earnestness. AND you're giving them a great story to tell. It was inspired by a buddy who is incapable of love - not really, just gets about a month in and loses interest. Usually he can "fade" them out at that point, but the last one he had to actually break up with. I suggested the line. He said he almost used it. Let me know how it goes.

Brilliant dialogue. How's the script coming along? If you need help, I can throw in some stage insturctions (i.e. WOMAN PICKS UP KNIFE AND LUNGES FOR MAN).

HDD: Me? No.

Joe: Uhh, the script, I'm working on it. (Where work = 1 hr. per month).
